How to Configure Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) For Your HMP Account

Download the Microsoft Authenticator App on your phone from the App Store or Google Play Store. Scan the QR code for your phone below.

Ensure that you are connected to the internet on your work laptop before proceeding.

 

  1. A box will pop up in Outlook asking you to enter your email password. Enter the password provided by IT.
  • If the password box does not appear, close Outlook completely and re-open it.
  1. Once you have signed in, this window will appear. Click “Next”.

  1. You will then be prompted for the authenticator app. If you already have it on your phone, click “Next”, if not, follow the instructions to download the app.

    *If the authenticator app is not working, or you would prefer Text Message Authentication, click “I want to set up a different method”. Select “Phone” from the drop-down menu and enter your phone number. Enter the 6 digital code from the text message.

 

Skip to Step 9 once complete with Text Message Authentication. If using the Authenticator App, proceed with Step 4.

  1. The next screen will ask you to set up your account on the authenticator app. If you have the app installed, click “Next”.

  1. Open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone and choose “Scan a QR Code” at the bottom of the opening screen. If you do not see this option, choose “Add Account” – “Work or School” – “Scan a QR Code”.

Scan the QR code that is displayed on your computer screen. Click “Next” once your account has been added.

  1. An authentication pop-up will appear on your phone. Tap “Approve” on your phone to complete multi-factor authentication. Then click “Next”, then “Done”.

  1. When signing into your Microsoft/Email account, you will be prompted to authenticate with the Microsoft Authenticator app by tapping “Approve” on the pop up to sign in or using the 6-digit code provided in a text message.

    DO NOT APPROVE any pop ups unless you are actively signing into your account.
